Metalpoint
A new departure.
It had not escaped my attention that the computer world was continually telling us this or that software would ‘unleash your creativity’, or ‘invent a better future’, or, ‘think different’ etc.
Having drawn with pen and ink on paper since the late 1960s I realised that being thrown back on limited resources had produced greater invention than having all those possibilities that the digital world claims.
Therefore, I went back to a technique that was pre-pencil, namely Silverpoint or Metalpoint. Whilst buying supplies in Cornelissens I noticed that there
were other metals used, bronze, gold, aluminium, etc.
That is where these drawings started - each metal drawing itself as a pile of scrap - a kind of recycling ?
